British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 Assessment

This British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 Assessment is run in conjunction with the Scottish Canoe Association. This is the formal assessment course and can be run at a ratio of 1:2 over a single day on the water. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the syllabus first.

You need to register first on the course with the SCA and then on the course there is a certification fee of £10.00 per person to be paid to the assessor.

British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3

The British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 is run in conjunction with the Scottish Canoe Association. The course assesses you in the fundamental skills of rafting following the BC syllabus and is provided by our SCA providers. Take your rafting to the next step!

Our providers do the most to ensure that any stress is kept to a minimum on the day and instead aim to enjoy the day without putting pressure on people. You will be kept in the know the whole day with regards to any element of the British Canoeing raft guide grade 3 syllabus that are needing to be seen. But we recommend you familiarise yourself with the syllabus and also have a look at the assessment guidance as linked.

Leadership eLearning and other online resources – The BC provide an option e-learning module which guides you through the principles behind the British Canoeing Awarding Body Model of Leadership. If this is of use to you then take a look here!.

White Water Rafting is one of the most fun and popular river experiences in Scotland. Be assessed to guide your white water raft down grade 3 white water rivers safely, look after your crew and have a good time. And the level three guide is a qualification that is sought after around the world for rafting companies.

Prerequisites for the British Canoeing White Water Rafting Grade 3:

  • Valid NGB membership
  • Registered for the course
  • Safeguarding course
  • First aid course
  • Advanced white water safety and rescue

The cost of the British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 includes:

  • The technical assessment for Grade 3
  • Transport to and from the venues
  • Specific equipment like rafts, pumps & paddles.

It does not include

  • Accommodation
  • Food
  • You will require all your own personal paddling & safety equipment i.e. BA, helmet, wetsuits, throwbag etc.
  • Personal registration & certification fees.

British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 Content:

  • Part A – Personal Paddling Skills
  • Part B – Rescue Skills
  • Part C – Safety, Leadership & Group Skills
  • Part D – Theory

The British Canoeing Raft Guide Grade 3 will be delivered in grade 3/+ water as deemed appropriate by conditions and the providers.
