Play together – stay together!
Throughout our lives we repeatedly find ourselves in teams - in the classroom, the boardroom or on the sports field - we have all experienced the challenges and thrill of working with other people towards a common goal.
Taking time to reflect on the team experience through experiential adventure provides tangible and immediate results for individual and team growth.
Active provide two distinctive types of event tailored for team development.

- Adventure Challenge
- X Adventure
All events are fun, motivating and foster a strong team spirit amongst participants. These can be facilitated within a one day or multi-day event or by overnight expeditions, tailored to best facilitate your specific requirements and the aim of your event.
Single day event based around an orienteering course using map reading skills to find your way through a course set in wild country and approx 2-5 kilometres square, you will be working in teams of 3-6. En route you could face physical challenges such as river or gorge crossings involving abseils or Tyrolean traverses. For those less adventurous, you will be challenged with various problem solving tasks, requiring lateral thinking and mental agility, including finding and solving clues, puzzles, anagrams etc…
Canoeing treasure hunt on Loch Lomond, Loch Morlich and other Scottish Lochs. Working in small teams of 6, two to a boat, you will paddle and navigate your way around the islands and coastline picking up clues on the way, solving problems and completing tasks as you go. You will be using Open Canadian canoes which are very stable. Instruction on paddling techniques and navigation will be give prior to setting out and you will be closely shadowed by one of our instructors. The event can culminate with a Bar-b-q at an agreed rendezvous point on one of the islands.
Day event where your team will be tested physically and mentally to get themselves to safety after getting lost in the hills. A full scenario briefing will be given, as will the necessary skills training and equipment, to allow them to spend a day in the wilds and reach safety before dusk. This event will be pitched at a level to allow maximum opportunity for individual members of each team to achieve the given task.
Full safety cover will be provided by our instructors who will be shadowing the groups throughout and can be contacted through VHF radio.
Competitive team event involving orienteering, problem solving tasks, canoeing, cycling, walking, rock climbing and abseiling. This event can be facilitated at various venues throughout Scotland.
The aim is to complete the challenge as set out in the "Challenge Instructions" using the map, equipment provided, individual skills and team strengths. The event involves visiting the areas highlighted on the master map where you will collect information, solve problems and participate in challenges. You will work in teams of 6-8, journeying by foot, canoe/raft, and bike. As you navigate the course, completing the various elements of the event, you will earn valuable team points. Everyone who participates is a winner but your team could be the X Adventure champions?
The event will kick off paddling and navigating your way around the loch, looking for markers or clues on the way. Once all the clues have been found you will paddle to the head of the loch and “get on your bike” for a mile or so completing tasks along the way. This is followed by a short hike to the rock face where you will scale the heights followed by another short hike to the second rock face where you will have to abseil 30 feet down to the path, which you will follow back to the bikes. From there on it is full steam ahead, back to the canoes and back across the loch to the finish where you will be welcomed with hot drinks and snacks or a Bar-b-q.
Note; although this event sounds fairly extreme, it will be tailored to suit each individual group and takes into consideration the general fitness and ability of individuals in the team. We design the event to allow positive outcomes for all except maybe the most deeply rooted couch potatoes.
Open Canadian canoes or rafts, which are very stable, are used for the event, Instruction on paddling techniques and navigation will be given prior to setting out and qualified instructors will be at the rock faces to get you up and down safely.
