Our DofE Gold Residential weeks in Scotland involve spending 5 days and 4 nights away in a beautiful place, on a course filled with adventure and fun with like-minded people from around the country. Active provides these residential experiences at its Cairngorms Adventure Centre, Craigower Lodge in The Cairngorms National Park. We are an Approved Provider for DofE residentials. Joins us and meet new friends on what will be a most memorable and enjoyable final stage of your DofE.

What is the Cost?
Our Multi Activity DofE Gold Residentials in Scotland are £399.00.
Our Snowsports Gold DofE Residentials in Scotland are £539.00 (including lift passes).
Active are a DofE Approved Activity provider and DofE Residential provider, we operate all year round from Craigower Lodge Outdoor Centre in the Scottish Highlands.
2026 and 2027 Gold DofE Residential Dates
Gold residential weeks are available for most of the year during February, April, July, August, September & October.

An Overview of the DofE Gold Residential Week
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Residential is a hugely significant, exciting and fulfilling experience. Your residential is more than just an activity week. It’s a chance to discover new passions and make memories that will last a lifetime. You can use it to try new adventure sports or to develop existing skills. Our ski weeks are available to complete beginners as well as those looking to develop their current skills. Our multi activity weeks include a selection of fantastic outdoor adventure activities, such as white water rafting, rock climbing and canyoning.
Day one your course begins at Craigower Lodge Outdoor Centre, Newtonmore at 1.30pm. We begin with a welcome session and some ice breaker / team games. We provide self-catering accommodation with shared dorm style accommodation. The lodge lounges to relax in and a large kitchen to cook in. We have client drying room to dry off any wet kit – as you will get wet! There are cafes, restaurants and takeaways nearby as well as a Coop market to buy your provisions.
What is Included in the DofE Gold Residential Week?
The Multi Activity DofE Gold Residential (April – October) includes 5 days of fun outdoor activities! A mixture of land, water and rock based sports. All technical and safety equipment needed for the activities is provided by us. Examples of the activities that you can expect to take part in are White Water Rafting, Canyoning, Gorge Scrambling, Canoeing, Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Rock Climbing and Abseiling.
The Snowsports Ski DofE Gold Residential (February) includes 5 days of activity: team building activities on the afternoon you arrive, and snowsports for the remainder of the residential. We return to centre at around 2.00pm on the departure day to give you time to get packed and organised before you head home – full of stories! February is generally the best time for snowsports in Scotland but even if conditions are not favourable for snowsports, we are delighted to offer an ‘activity guarantee’ e.g. rafting, paddling, winter walks, bothy adventures or rock climbing, etc
