Travelling by car
Newtonmore is conveniently located just off the A9, Scotland’s main north–south route, making us an easy drive from both north and south.

Travelling by coach
One of the easiest ways to reach Newtonmore by public transport is with Scottish Citylink or Ember coach services.
Ember (Scotland’s all-electric intercity bus network) operates services along the A9 corridor, including routes connecting Edinburgh and Glasgow with Inverness, with Newtonmore as a stop along the way. This makes Ember particularly useful for visitors travelling from central Scotland without a car.
Edinburgh & Glasgow are well connected to cities across Great Britain. From there, The Ember and Scottish Citylink services run between Edinburgh and Inverness via Perth, Pitlochry, Dalwhinnie and stopping in Newtonmore.
The service calls at Newtonmore near the Clan Macpherson Museum when travelling towards north, and near Monarch Country Apartments when travelling south towards Edinburgh & Glasgow.
This provides a convenient direct public transport option for visitors travelling from Edinburgh, Glasgow and further afield.
Travelling by train
Newtonmore has its own railway station on the Highland Main Line, making rail travel another excellent option for visitors coming from across the UK.
ScotRail services connect Newtonmore with Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness, while longer-distance connections make it easy to travel from further afield.
For visitors coming from London and the Midlands, travelling by rail can be particularly convenient, with options including the Caledonia sleeper service from London Euston & Birmingham International stopping in Newtonmore.
Travelling by air
For clients travelling from further afield, there are three main Scottish airports to consider: Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Inverness Airport is the closest airport to Craigower Lodge, approximately 1¼ hours by car from Newtonmore. The airport has scheduled flights to a number of UK and international destinations, including London, Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin and Amsterdam, although routes vary by season. From the airport, visitors can hire a car, arrange a taxi or travel towards Inverness and continue to Newtonmore by train or Ember bus.
Edinburgh Airport offers a particularly wide choice of domestic and international flights, with direct services to more than 150 destinations. It is approximately 2 – 2½ hours by car from Newtonmore and is well connected to the rest of Scotland by public transport. From the airport, visitors can connect Newtonmore and Inverness using Ember or Citylink services.
Glasgow Airport is approximately 2½–3 hours by car from Newtonmore and offers a wide range of UK and international destinations. From Glasgow, visitors can travel onwards by road, rail or coach. Ember & Citylink network also provides connections north towards the Highlands.
