BC Advanced Canoe Leader Training
The training course for the advanced canoe leader training is 4 days in length. Candidates are taken through the course syllabus covering leadership, personal paddling performance, rescue scenarios and equipment. The training is carried out in the appropriate environment of advanced white water rivers grade 3 and in open water up to a force 5 wind. If you are unsure of your current paddling ability, or have not been in a boat for some time then we can offer a private days coaching the day before the course to ensure you are current and ready for the training.
Before booking on to the course please ensure you meet the pre-requisites. A valid BCU or SCA membership is required. We ask you to have all your own or access to personal paddling & safety equipment.
The cost of the course includes:
- The technical training
- Transport to and from the venues
It does not include
- A canoe – they are available to rent if required.
- You will require all your own personal paddling & safety equipment.
- Personal registration or certification fees.
The Advanced Canoe Leader course content covers the following:
- Part A – Personal Paddling Skills
- Part B – Rescue Skills
- Part C – Safety, Leadership & Group Skills
- Part D – Theory
The cost of the Advanced Canoe Leader Training course does not include accommodation, but there is the option to add 2 nights accommodation at Cairngorms Adventure Centre if required.
