Actives’ guided hill walking expeditions journey through some of the most beautiful and isolated parts of Scotland. We have expedition options that meet the needs of a range of different abilities – hill walking for novice through to the experienced.

Scottish Walking Journeys

Get away from the world and explore the Scottish wilderness for a few days with a guided walking expedition. There is no better way to destress and unwind than to pack your bags and get off grid! With Scotland’s ‘Right to Roam’ comes the freedom to explore and wild camp in some of the most remote spots in the UK (respectfully of course). Our qualified guides are there to offer advice and ensure the safety of the group. They will also keep you entertained with many interesting stories about the history and folklore, flora, fauna and geology of the landscape you are exploring.

We offer many multi-day trips but are happy to speak to you about what your goals and desires are, so that we can create a bespoke trip to fit your individual needs.

Feel free to have a look at some of our options below which are some of our personal favourites. These guided expeditions are a minimum of 3 days walking and 2 nights camping, though you may want more time to explore what Scotland has to offer. Please drop us an enquiry to discuss further.

There are routes to suit most grades and fitness levels of the group. If you are unsure which guided Scottish walking expedition would best suit you, do not hesitate to call. Normal Group sizes are a minimum of 4 walkers and maximum 10 walkers. Individual and group bookings are welcome.

Transport, accommodation, camping equipment and guiding are included in the package. Pick ups can be arranged from various points in South/Central Scotland.

The Cairngorms 2-4 day

There are many amazing routes that explore the Cairngorms mountain range, with something to suit most abilities. Whether it is exploring a section of the Lairig Ghru or ticking off four of the highest  mountains in Scotland. The landscape has been carved out by glaciers, giving it some distinctive features such as deep corries and granite tors.

Glen Coe 2-4 day

Explore the mountains of the West, one of the most dramatic and picturesque landscapes in Scotland. Used in films such as James Bond’s ‘Skyfall’ and numerous Harry Potter films, you can really feel like you are somewhere truly magical. Steeped in history and culture, these fantastic hills make for an interesting journey, with many famous landmarks along the way. What better way to end your expedition than summiting the UK’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, at a height of 1,345m.

Inverpolly 3-4 day

Although not a Munro, there is no doubt that the outline of Suilven is well-known by many mountaineers. At its height of 731m, it is in fact a ‘Graham’ and although this may make it sound less exciting, it is a walk that is unforgettable. The whole area around this distinctive mountain is shrouded in beauty, with towering peaks interspersed with glacial lochs. This is a great choice if you want to explore the remote wilderness.

Knoydart 3-5 day

Perhaps Scotland’s wildest mountain range with only one small settlement, Inverie, which is accessible only by boat due to the lack of roads. Enjoy the peace and solitude of a truly remote area, camp under a sky with no light pollution whatsoever, and walk up a few peaks to enjoy those panoramic views of the West Coast.
