Winter Skills Courses are becoming more popular with more people looking to head to the mountains in Winter. Having the techniques to do they safely highly recommended and obtained through booking on to one of our a Winter Skills Courses. The Winter Skills days & courses are designed to teach you the fundamentals of hill walking in Winter conditions. You will get to develop your skills and learn new techniques. Covering Navigation, Use of Crampons & ice axes, Walking safely in Snow, introduction of rope work, & Avalanche awareness.
Courses are based at Cairngorms Adventure Centre and use the Northern Corries and Cairngorm Plateau, one of Scotland’s finest and most accessible high mountain areas, thus maximising your learning time. Other areas that we may use are; Creag Meagaidh & the Monadhliath Mountains.

Price Includes; Instruction / Guiding & all Technical Equipment
Our Winter Skills Courses equipment is Salewa, Black Diamond, Millet & Scarpa. We have a large selection boot sizes & crampons to suit all client requirements.
What to bring? Essential clothing for the days/courses; waterproofs, base layers, warm layers, gloves (x2 pairs at least), 40+L rucksack, hat, buff & Ski Goggles. Gaiters are desirable.
Those booking on to Winter Skills Courses should have mountain walking experience.
Booked Winter skills in Aviemore & just needing accommodation? Accommodation is available at Cairngorms Adventure Centre. An affiliate with Hosteling Scotland (SYHA). The lodge offers self catered accommodation; shared dorms or private rooms. Catering can be provided for groups of 10 or more. There is a drying room, open lounge, large kitchen, free wi-fi and friendly & helpful staff to make your stay with us enjoyable this Winter.
