Nevis and Glencoe winter climbing
Winter Climbing Courses in Fort William
Winter climbing in Fort William is a great opportunity to tackle those routes you’ve often dreamed of. The day/s will be tailored to your own needs and will tackle winter routes from grade 2 and up to grade 5 if you wish. We will climb on the North face of Ben Nevis & in Glencoe, with possible day on Creag Meagaidh. Candidates will have considerable walking experience or summer rock climbing at Diff or above or have some previous winter climbing experience. There will be the opportunity to lead routes if deemed appropriate.
Over the course period we will be aiming to cover the main technical points. You will be seconding several climbs. Please note this course will not be covering winter leading skills.
At the end of the course we anticipate you to have developed a strong understanding into winter climbing skills and be confident to second a variety of winter climbs.
You will gain an understanding into the equipment required for and how to use it; ice axes, crampons etc. We aim to ensure an understanding into Avalanche awareness and choosing safe routes for walking in to the climbs and walking out after topping out from routes.
The price of the course includes equipment rental.
