Winter Skills Courses around Fort William are becoming more popular with people looking to head to the mountains. Having the techniques to do so safely is highly recommended and obtained through booking on to one of our Courses. These days & courses are designed to teach you the fundamentals of hill walking in Winter conditions. You will get to develop your skills and learn new techniques. Covering Navigation, Use of Crampons & ice axes, Walking safely in Snow, introduction of rope work, & Avalanche awareness.
Courses are based at Ben Nevis and Glencoe, some of Scotland’s finest and most accessible high mountain areas, thus maximising your learning time. Other areas that we may use are; Creag Meagaidh, the Monadhliath Mountains & the Cairngorms.

Price Includes; Instruction / Guiding & all Technical Equipment
Our equipment is Salewa, Black Diamond, Millet & Scarpa. We also have a large selection boot sizes & crampons to suit all client requirements.
What to bring? Essential clothing for the days/courses; waterproofs, base layers, warm layers, gloves (x2 pairs at least), 40+L rucksack, hat, buff & Ski Goggles. Gaiters are desirable.
Pre-Requisites
Those booking on to Winter Skills Courses should have mountain walking experience.

- Use of ice axes & crampons / Step cutting / Avalanche Awareness / Route planning / Navigation / Winter weather awareness / Dealing with emergencies / Snow holes & emergency shelters (4 Day) / Rope work and belaying (4 Day)
